AMD Radeon and Samsung: here is the first benchmark

It is no trade secret that last year AMD has announced a partnership with Samsung. The two companies have teamed up to improve their position in the mobile sector and the fruit of this collaboration is expected for 2021.

The news that confirms how serious the two companies are doing came a few days ago from some GFXBench benchmarks that suggest an AMD Radeon installed on a Samsung SoC.

From the data revealed the latest performance is up to 3 times higher than the best Snapdragon 865 chip with Adreno 650 GPU and we won’t have to wait long before we can test an Exynos SoC reinforced by an AMD Radeon graphics chip.

In fact, the graphics performance in the mobile world is a far cry from the great efforts made from year to year. Nvidia Shield and Nintendo Switch, for example, benefit from an Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC announced back in January 2015 and this processor, at the time, had already integrated a Maxwell 2 SMM graphics chip with 256 CUDA cores for a total processing power of 1 teraflop. The Qualcomm Adreno 650 chip at the end of 2019 has an estimated total power of 1.2 teraflops.
