Android apps land on Windows 11, soon also in Italy

One of the biggest new features of Windows 11 is the Android app supportwhich allows users to run applications created for Google’s mobile operating system directly on their PCs.

The rollout of Android apps to Windows 11, however, is happening gradually, and this week the software giant announced that more users will finally have access to this highly anticipated feature by the end of the year.

“The preview of the Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 is currently available in the United States and will expand to five additional countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, later this year,” says Microsoft.

The Android experience on Windows 11 is supported by Amazon Appstore. Although the downloads are from the Microsoft Store, the links come from the Amazon Appstore, although users can also manually install the APK files using various other methods.

Microsoft recently announced a number of improvements for Android apps on Windows 11, including not only support for Android 12.1, but also a redesign of the Settings app.

“The Windows Subsystem app for Android Settings has been significantly redesigned and updated. We’ve redesigned the app from the ground up, now with clearer settings groups, grouped navigation, and an all-round cleaner user experience. We have also added a diagnostic data viewer where you can review all the diagnostic data collected by the subsystem and configuration options in the new compatibility settings to enable fixes for specific apps such as forcing apps not to be resizable or enabling key swipes. arrow, ”says Microsoft.

While Microsoft says extended availability will happen later this year, it is possible that the release will take place with the debut of Windows 11 version 22H2.
