Apple reviews MacBook Air, MacBook Pro also tests M2

During its annual Global Developers Conference, Apple unveiled its revised MacBook Air with the recently announced M2 chip. It brings a new design, Magsafe charging and exemplary autonomy. Meanwhile, the 13-inch MacBook Pro also tested the M2 chip.

The new MacBook Air comes with a slimmer design and looks much sleeker at 11mm thick and weighs 2.7lbs (1.22kg). The laptop remains fanless and comes with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness and 1 billion colors. Also, the webcam has been upgraded to 1080p.

MacBook Air gets Magic Keyboard with a larger row of function keys and now supports MagSafe charging. Along with that, you get two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.

Battery life is 18 hours of video playback. The new MacBook Air also has a newly designed quad-speaker system built into the frame, which should be a big step up from the previous design.

The MacBook Air M2 will be available in Space Gray, Silver, Midnight Blue and Starry Gold and comes with a matching MagSafe charging cable. It has also been updated to support fast charging with the 67W USB-C adapter.

It will be available starting in July for $1,199 and can be configured with up to 2TB of SSD storage and up to 24GB of memory. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air M1 will remain available starting at $999.

Meanwhile, the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains unchanged beyond the new chipset with its thick-bezel display and Apple’s Keyboard with Touch Bar. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 starts at $1,299.
