Apple to launch 15-inch MacBook Air next year, new 12-inch laptop in early 2024

Apple unveiled a new 13.6-inch MacBook Air at WWDC earlier this week, powered by the M2 chip announced at the same event. It won’t go on sale until next month, but a new report from Bloomberg claims that “Apple is already working on a 15” MacBook Air, which it plans to launch next spring, making it the first laptop of this size in the series. Air.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is a wider version of the 13.6-inch MacBook Air announced this week, meaning it won’t have the wedge-shaped bezel we’ve seen on previous models.

The post further claims that Apple is also working on a 12″ laptop, which is expected to launch in late 2023 or early 2024. If that happens, it will be Apple’s smallest laptop since 2019, when the company discontinued the 12″ MacBook. Although it is not clear if it will be part of the MacBook Air line or the Pro series.

Additionally, Apple plans to launch high-end MacBook Pro laptops with the M2 Pro and M2 Max by the end of 2022, but that could be pushed back to early 2023. These are code-named J414 and J416 and will be available in 14″ and 12″ sizes. 16».

The M2 Pro chip will go into mass production later this year and will be manufactured by TSMC. It will be based on the 3nm process and will come with four efficiency cores and eight performance cores. Meanwhile, the M2 Max would feature 12 main processing cores linked by up to 38 graphics cores.

Apple has also begun development of the M3 chip, which is expected to power the iMac and other products in the future.
