Apple’s new 35W compact charger gets the teardown treatment

It’s time we brought down a new Apple product.

Along with the new MacBook Air, Apple introduced a series of new chargers for Macs at WWDC 2022 earlier this month. One of those chargers was the 35W USB-C Dual Port Compact Power Adapter.

ChargerLAB, known for disassembling all kinds of Apple products, has posted a teardown video of the new compact charger. You can check it below:

Apple announced two new 35W dual-port USB-C chargers at WWDC22. Many people are curious about internal design and architecture. And today we have the compact version. I know you’ve been waiting for this charger to be dismantled. So, let’s take it apart and see what’s inside.

The new 35W chargers offer to charge two devices at once. As Apple explains in its new support document, how much each device charges depends on the devices you connect to it.

If you connect a Mac laptop and an iPhone or iPad, each device receives up to 17.5W.

If you connect an iPhone and an iPad, each device receives up to 17.5 W.

If you connect a Mac notebook or iPhone and an Apple Watch or AirPods, the Mac notebook or iPhone receives up to 27.5 W and the Apple Watch or AirPods receives up to 7.5 W.

The new chargers are now available for purchase on their own and will also be available as an option during pre-orders for the launch of Apple’s new MacBook Air.
