Big Apollo App Update Makes Reddit Useful Again

Apollo, Reddit’s app for iPhone and iPad, has a big new update that includes a ton of changes and improvements, but most importantly makes Reddit useful again.

Reddit users already know that Apollo is one of the best iPhone apps for reading content, but this new update kicks things up a notch by adding custom subreddit watchers. These watchers can keep an eye out for new content that might interest you on your favorite subreddits, and then send you a notification when something is worth watching. It’s a great way to make sure you see interesting posts without searching all over Reddit to find them.

This feature ties in seamlessly with Apollo’s “completely redesigned notification experience,” while other improvements include notifications for trending posts and more.

Notable improvements from the App Store release notes include:

• Introducing custom subreddit watchers. Incredibly powerful, you can now create filters and have Apollo monitor interesting content on your favorite subreddits, and get notified whenever there is a matching post. So never again will you miss a fascinating discussion about your favorite character Mark on your favorite TV show’s subreddit, or PS5 or Xbox sightings on your city’s subreddit, or squirrels posted on r/aww. It’s so incredibly convenient.
• Trending subreddit posts. With one click, you can turn on trending post notifications for any subreddits you want. So when a post from your favorite subreddit goes well, Apollo will send you a little notification to brighten your day.
• Remember me on… tired of summoning “remind me bots” in the comments? Apollo can now easily schedule a notification for a post you want an update on, so you know to come back when OP posts the juicy update they promised.
• Completely rebuilt inbox notifications (post replies, comment replies, messages, mentions).

As always, this Apollo update also includes new icons, possibly the best ones yet.
