Diablo Immortal is coming to iOS and PC with cross-play on June 2

Diablo Immortal, Blizzard’s controversial free-to-play mobile RPG, will launch on iOS and PC on June 2, and will also feature cross-play support.

The publisher announced the news through a trailer, which you can see below.

This one-minute video is worth watching for the gameplay snippets it contains. Blizzard has created a new top-down hack and slash game specifically for mobile devices, albeit firmly in the classic Diablo lineage, with a story set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III.

It is now known that the game will be released on June 2, but the other exciting news is that this free-to-play multiplayer ARPG will come with cross-platform support. This means iPhone and iPad players will be able to team up with PC players, the latter initially through an open beta.

Cross-progression will also be supported, so you can pick up where you left off on PC on your iPhone or iPad (and vice versa).

We embarked on an early build of Diablo Immortal back in 2018. Contrary to the near-universal negativity the game’s announcement encountered on the internet (Diablo fans are picky), we investigated its stripped-down version. the dungeon crawl formula.

Opposition to Blizzard’s announcement of Diablo Immortal from a contingency of particularly hardcore fans has been so strong that some have even started a petition to have the game cancelled.

“Blizzard no longer cares about the community,” reads the extraordinarily titled description. “This is an outrage and spit in the face of the Diablo community. Please sign this petition to show them how disappointed we are!

It remains to be seen if Diablo Immortal can avoid the usual free-to-play pitfalls and provide a proper answer to that childish stomping. At the very least, we hope this fills in the dead time and helps take some of that ARPG itch away until Diablo 4 is ready.
