There are certainly plenty of iPad cases out there in a wide range of prices. But when you want something a little more premium, something above the regular cases on the market, it can be a little harder to find. DODOcase is known for its handmade technical cases that are more like high-end leather-bound books. The company’s latest addition takes the elegant format to the next level with the use of leather for designer bags and other products. But is it worth the price?

I’ve tried quite a few iPad cases for your review, the most recent one on my iPad mini 6, and had a few issues: I’m not particularly interested in putting on a case that looks or feels good walking on my iPad, and I don’t appreciate that my iPad falling on my face while trying to read in bed (which is what I do most with my iPad). DODOcase Noblessa leather solves both problems. Obviously, she looks and feels like the elegant case that she is. The interior is lined with a nice plush suede. The beveled corners are a nice touch.

But mostly, it works fine. I can prop it up at two different angles and it stays in place, even when I’m reading in bed. It even has Sleep/Wake functionality so I don’t have to remember to turn my iPad on and off. It has a loop for the Apple Pencil, although I don’t have one so I can’t comment on how well it works. I tested the buckle with a pen, which stayed in place well.

Your iPad will dress to impress

However, it is not perfect. You probably won’t use it when traveling as it’s quite a bulky case. It has a rubber to keep the cover closed because otherwise it would not be closed, which is annoying. Putting it on and taking it off is not only an extra step, but it just hangs up when not in use. I wasn’t thrilled to see two round bumps on the inner flap of the folio, which could be magnets, but they are clearly visible and easily felt through the inner suede. And the price is quite high; It’s always hard to tell if it’s “worth it” for someone else, because of course you can get really good cases for less.

We tested the Mous case for iPad, which is a high-end, ultra-protective case. It’s made of high-quality materials and works great, but it’s about half the price of DODOcase.

I also really like the Fintie Folio iPad case. Although it lacks the sleek elegance of the DODOcase, it looks quite nice and is functionally similar. It costs about a tenth of the price of the DODOcase.

    You should buy it if…

You should not buy this if…

I’m always looking for the best cases for my iPad mini 6, and I was specifically looking for a high-end case that I’d take to a business meeting, for example. This one certainly fits the bill: dress your iPad to impress for sure. Both the interior and exterior look and feel amazing. I tried it for several weeks and it worked great for me. Viewing angles are solid, so it’s hard to drop your iPad. The Sleep/Wake feature is nice, and the Apple Pencil loop holds a stylus securely in place. However, the elastic loop that holds the folio closed drags unattractively when not in use, which isn’t my favorite. And while it’s bulkier, it’s actually nothing crazy. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a luxury leather wallet case. Finally, the price is quite high and hard to justify no matter how fancy the leather is.
