Google Maps Street View gets a new time travel feature since 2007

Google is celebrating 15 years of Street View by announcing a kind of time travel feature, which allows people to go back and see what things looked like at different times between now and 2007.

Google announced the change via a blog post, saying that it’s now “easier than ever to time travel right from your phone.”

When viewing street view images of a place, tap anywhere on the photo to view information about the place. Then tap “See More Dates” to see historical images we’ve released of that location, dating back to the launch of Street View in 2007. Scroll through each of the images to see a digital time capsule showing how a location has changed. Location. for example, how the boat in New York’s Hudson Yards grew from scratch.

Google also announced a new Street View camera that will allow you to capture more Street View images than ever before. It can be installed in any car and weighs just 15 pounds, making it more portable than ever. Google says we can expect it to be used in areas that wouldn’t normally be mapped, including the Amazon rainforest.

Finally, a bit of fun. Google says that to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the release of Street View, we can all set a Street View car as our mapping icon!

To celebrate the anniversary of Street View, you will have the option to turn your navigation icon into a festive Street View car. Simply press the chevron when in scan mode. And on the computer, our beloved Pegman, who you can pick up and drop off anywhere in Maps for Street View, will be decked out in a birthday hat and balloons to celebrate.

Google Maps is still one of the best navigation apps for iPhone, and being able to drive a car from Street View makes it even better!
