Hill Helicopters brings the glamor of a premium luxury automobile to its design for the HX50, the world’s first private helicopter.
Presented by Hill Helicopters.
Just take a quick look at the impressive HX50 to see why it’s capturing the attention of would-be owners at a rate that surprised Jason Hill, chief engineer and CEO of Hill Helicopters. And the call is global.
It’s a helicopter that wouldn’t be out of place in the busiest action movie; it belongs on the deck of a super yacht, on top of a remote mountain, on a private island.
Everything about the HX50 evokes glamour, luxury and power, but there’s so much more. As well as comfortably accommodating 5 passengers and their luggage for a 5-hour flight, cruising at 140 knots and enjoying views that are nothing short of sensational, this plane has some very practical aspects.
In fact, the goal was to design a helicopter that all pilots would love to fly and would be easy to fly. So from the beginning, the owners kept in close contact as development progressed.
Going back further, Jason Hill’s singular idea from a young age was to create the first truly private helicopter and, in the process, revolutionize the aviation industry. So Hill uses the latest technological innovations, designing their own engine, digital cockpit and avionics, and manufacturing their own components, to get exactly what they and their customers want.
After designing an entirely original proprietary model for the HX50, Hill was able to keep the price to a reasonable £495,000 (US$665,000).
