How to Quickly Add a Lock to a Note on Your iPhone

Before iOS 11, the only way to lock a note in the Notes app was to tap the Share icon and select Lock Note. Now you can quickly and easily lock any note in the Notes app by swiping it. This shortcut means that you don’t even need to open a note to lock it, and it makes the whole process much more seamless. Here’s how to quickly lock a note on your iPhone.

To quickly lock a note in the Notes app on your iPhone:

  1. Open the Notes app and view your note list.
  2. Find the note you want to lock and swipe left in that.
  3. Tap on the padlock icon to lock that note.
  4. You will need to use Touch ID or Face ID to confirm that it is you. Then a lock will be added to the note and you will need to unlock the note in order to view it from now on.
  5. If you decide that the note no longer needs to be locked, you can also swipe left to remove a lock from a note in the same way.

Now you can add a lock to your notes!
