In a new Gridiron Notes, Madden NFL 23 discusses upcoming changes to how free agents will work in next game’s franchise mode.

Part of what players will get to experience working with free agents this time around will be a rework of the free agent hub visuals, which should bring some of the excitement back into the process. Madden NFL 23 understands how important team building is, so these changes are written as follows, “From all the new screens, to additional judging periods, player incentives, and additional salary cap features, there are a whole new dynamic to engage with when it comes to putting together the ideal squad.

There is also a video that accompanies the Gridiron Notes entry which you can view below.

One of the massive changes to how free agents work is the implementation of player motivations. In previous titles, free agents signed with the team that offered the most money, but now there is a little more to do to convince players to sign.

These requirements can vary based on location, coach prestige, team composition, and more. All players will start with a set of 3 motivations, but each year a player continues with a deductible, these can be updated to better align with their current situation.

If you’ve always loved franchise mode, there’s more than enough here to change it drastically from previous years.

Madden NFL 23 will be released on August 19 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S.
