Today, Microsoft released the beta version of Microsoft Flight Simulator Sim Update 10, which promises to be one of the biggest in the history of the popular simulator.

The update, scheduled for full release on August 23, brings a host of relevant features and improvements, starting with the implementation of Nvidia DLSS support.

The patch notes, which you can read in full here (they’re very long), include DirectX 12 performance and stability improvements, a new cloud layer, fixes related to jungle travel, quality of life features for the popular G1000 NXi VFR board and switch to the default option.

Players will also be able to bind the visibility of taxi guide tapes and dog tags to a key, while wake effects for ships have been added along with an experimental low-power mode.

Other updates include a weather and terrain radar API for developers and the ability to modify the aircraft included in the Deluxe and Premium editions.

Of course, this is a beta version, which means you should only sign up if you’re willing to help try it out, bearing in mind that the experience is unlikely to be optimal.

Full instructions on how to sign up for and install the beta can be found here.
