Today at The Game Awards 2020, Capcom revealed a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise , the upcoming release of the award-winning and best-selling Monster Hunter RPG series. The video shows two new monsters, several returning monsters, and a new area for players to explore. The new trailer also reveals a preview of the mysterious events of “Fury” that threaten the village of Kamura, the main location of the game. Also announced during the event, a free demo of Monster Hunter Rise will be released for the Nintendo Switch console in January 2021, ahead of the global launch of the full game on March 26, 2021.

New Monsters – Joker Bishaten arrives as a unique new threat with his distinctive tail and fondness for persimmons, which he stores in his stomach and hurls at his prey. In addition to his offensive arsenal, Bishaten is also equipped with multiple tail attack options and powerful spin moves that will require hunters to stay on tiptoe or risk being swept off their feet. Also new to the line-up, Somnacanth is a heady aquatic leviathan that can expel sleep dust to temporarily stun opponents, leaving them open to attack.

The latest trailer also includes sightings of the scaly leviathan Royal Ludroth and the poisonous bird-like Great Wroggi, who are returning to join the growing roster of enemies in Monster Hunter Rise . In addition to the previously announced Sanctuary Ruin hunting grounds, the new Flooded Forest area will offer players the opportunity to explore and battle ferocious monsters in this water-filled setting.

The bewildering “Rampage” events that threaten Kamura village and its inhabitants were also featured in the trailer, as it appears that residents and gamers of Monster Hunter Rise they will have to build their defenses and prepare for the battle of their life. More information on the “Fury” will be revealed in the coming months.

A demo for Monster Hunter Rise on Nintendo Switch was announced today and will be released worldwide in January 2021. The free demo will give hunters their first opportunity to try out the inventive set of new tools in the game, including the debut of the Wirebug mechanic and Palamute Companion, which can be used to both track down and defeat menacing monsters in new ways. Further details on this demo, including release times, will be announced soon.

About Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise is an action RPG that will transport players to the colorful village of Kamura, which attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. After the hunters have equipped their armor and chosen one of various types of weapons, new hunting grounds await, including the ancient ruins of the sanctuary and more. The debut of the new “Wirebug” mechanic allows for cable-based grappling actions that can be used to scale cliffs and other hard-to-reach areas, providing new aerial attack and traversal options.

Monster Hunter Rise It will also debut new hunting companions called Palamutes, custom, rideable “Canyne” companions that will provide players with a new set of attack options, while “Felyne” companions will return as support characters for actions such as healing. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, objects from fallen enemies can be used to create unique weapons and armor that will increase their chances of future success and survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges alone or with up to three other players in local or online co-op, while taking advantage of the versatility of the Nintendo Switch system, which allows them to hunt anywhere, anytime and with anyone!

In addition to the standard edition (physical and digital) of Monster Hunter Rise a special digital deluxe edition will include the standard edition of the game, as well as a voucher for a digital DLC pack that can be redeemed for bonus game content such as a full set of ‘Kamurai’ layered armor, exclusive gestures, cosmetic items and more still.
