As the title suggests, The Outbound Ghost has no qualms about comparing Paper Mario. You can see where the ideas for the game are coming from, but The Outbound Ghost promises a much more existential story about death.

Steam describes The Outbound Ghost as:

The Outbound Ghost is an adventure RPG about helping ghosts ascend to the afterlife. The city of Outbound is quite literally a ghost town: a home for ghosts with unresolved earthly problems, condemning them to an eternity haunting their old ghosts *ahem*.

Confront the past, gain new abilities, solve puzzles, and uncover the mysteries of the Outbound to help its lifeless residents find peace, freeing them from the chains of their ghostly limbo.

The current release date is only known in wave 2022. The Outbound Ghost will be available for PC, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
