Photoshop for iPad gets content-aware padding, background removal, and more.
Adobe has released a major new update to its Photoshop app for iPad that adds a host of new features, including a new content-aware fill feature similar to that available on Mac. Other improvements include a new background removal tool.
Starting with this content-aware fill, Adobe says it has been able to bring one of Photoshop’s core features to the Mac for the first time through a single-step action.
The Photoshop team has spent more than 30 years adding innovative new technologies to images, and Content-Aware Fill is one of the hallmarks of Photoshop Desktop. Today, we’re bringing that functionality to Photoshop on iPad, with an easy one-click step that takes any selection and uses AI to fill in your content based on your environment! Make distracting objects disappear from your background or blend artifacts seamlessly. Remove unwanted bystanders in your photos, remove artifacts and dust, and see what else our AI technology can do.
To use it, grab the Lasso tool or one of Photoshop’s AI-powered smart selection tools, like Object Selection, to select an area, hit “Content-Aware Fill” and watch your selection disappear and blend into your image. .
The new Photoshop update also adds support for background removal, again through a one-step action that makes it easy to replace any background before replacing it with another.
One of the most transformative tools of recent times has been the ability to remove the background from any photo, allowing you to take the subject and place it in other images, replacing plain backgrounds with other scenes, etc. Photoshop led the way in producing the highest quality results through a combination of its proprietary subject selection and layer mask technology, allowing you to seamlessly remove the background from any image, without modifying the original pixels. from image.
We’ve brought this one-click action to Photoshop on iPad to make your work faster and more precise. Change any background or place your subject on another image seamlessly. Simply open your image and select “Remove Background” in the Lasso Tool or Quick Actions in the properties panel on the right.
Other enhancements in this new version include an update to the Select Subject tool designed to improve photo identification of people, including their hair. Photoshop for iPad now also offers automatic tone, color, and contrast features to make some of the most common adjustments users use easier than ever.
All this and more is in the latest version of Adobe Photoshop for iPad, available through the App Store. Anyone who has already installed the app should see the update available now, while everyone else can download it now for free. However, some features require a Creative Cloud subscription.
