Porsche windsurfer Liam Whaley takes second place in the GKA Big Air World Championship
In Tarifa, Spain, a Porsche athlete won big.
25-year-old kitesurfer Liam Whaley hails from Tarifa, Spain, a coastal town on the Strait of Gibraltar that happens to be one of the wind sports capitals of the world. He is also a Porsche sportsman, as Porsche has added kitesurfing to the repertoire of sports in which he participates as a brand. Porsche sponsors the Red Bull King of the Air and collaborates with kitesurfing brand Duotone.

The first GKA Big Air World Championship was recently held in Tarifa, and in the event, kitesurfers reach impressive heights and pull off impossible tricks. Liam Whaley competed in the Men’s Twin-Tip class as one of the top 24 kitesurfers in the world vying for the world title. In the final, Whaley took on his teammate Duotone from Italy and took second place by just a fraction after making incredible jumps and reaching heights of over 65 feet. After winning the runner-up title, Whaley’s season continues with events in the Netherlands, Denmark and Cape Town, South Africa for Red Bull King of the Air 2022. This incredible success is just the beginning for Liam Whaley and the future. of Porsche’s involvement in windsurfing.
