Rumor: Xiaomi is also working on a phone with a 200MP sensor
Motorola isn’t the only company working on a phone with a 200MP camera: Digital Chat Station reports that a phone is on the way with a 200MP sensor, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 120Hz display and 1000mAh battery. 5000mAh
While the leaker was coy, some are speculating that this is a Xiaomi phone, specifically the Redmi K50S Pro. Or it could be the Xiaomi 12T Pro (it could actually be the same name, just different names in different regions).
The sensor will be ISOCELL HP1 or ISOCELL HP3 from Samsung. Both have a resolution of 200MP, but the difference lies in the optical format and pixel size: 1/1.22″ and 0.64 µm and 1/1.4″ and 0.56 µm, respectively (before binning). 4 in 1).
Motorola uses the larger HP1 and released a sample camera earlier today that shows what the sensor can do with 4-in-1 pixel binning enabled – it’s still a 50MP shot! It is not yet known which sensor Xiaomi will choose. Considering the premium 8+ Gen 1 chipset, of course it makes more sense to go for the HP1.
There are more uncertainties: will Leica work on the phone or not? We will have to wait for other leaks to find out.
