Samsung could cut smartphone production by 30 million units

According to a new report from a prestigious South Korean news publication, Samsung will produce 30 million fewer smartphones in 2022. The three main factors behind the production decline are rising inflation and resulting consumer spending. , the continuing shortage of components and the war in Ukraine. Samsung is expected to adjust production for all device price ranges, from entry-level to flagships.

Samsung originally planned to make 310 million smartphones by 2022, but recent developments have forced the Korean tech conglomerate to lower its target to 280 million units. Despite record first-quarter revenue and around 73.7 million smartphone shipments worldwide, Samsung will have to adjust its targets. Other big players like Apple are also reportedly cutting production, with Cupertino looking to make 20% fewer iPhone SE units.
