Gear S3 smartwatch concept

A smartwatch and a jewelry fair. Kicks off today in Switzerland on Baselworld 2017, a fair that perhaps will not tell you anything because it is dedicated to the world of watches and far from what we are used to. Samsung sneaked in and took the opportunity to show three luxury design smartwatch concepts created by Yvan Arpa.

Based on the Gear S3 design, Arpa has created a traditional version of the Gear S3 with a transparent dial to show the moving gears inside. Also on display are new variants of the current Gear S3, giving space to new finishes, designs and straps. Some of them look pretty neat and ready for the market.

Most of all, however, theGear S3 pocket watch as was once used, a hybrid device that has a traditional mechanical watch on the outside but opens to reveal the smartwatch part with the liquid crystal display inside. Perhaps it is so peculiar and ridiculous that someone would buy it as well.

Not just concept, Samsung has announced that they are working to release a “Value Pack” update for Gear S2 and S3 which brings more “content” such as barometer, reminders and S Health. They also anticipated improved support for Spotify and NEST applications but no more precise details were released.
