This is the mic I rely on on my podcast, and it’s a bargain on Prime Day

Source: Luke Filipowicz / ComoHow

When I took over as host of the ComoHow show, I realized that I would need a good quality USB microphone to record the audio of the show. Without hesitation, I turned to my HyperX QuadCast S. Over the years, I’ve tried several USB microphones and none have the features, style, and sound quality that I trust to record the podcast. But here’s the thing; It’s a great accessory to have no matter what you like to do because it has so many applications. This makes video calls better, gaming with friends easier, and recording any sound, even acoustic guitar and vocals, much more accessible. I would even go so far as to say that a good quality USB microphone is an essential item for a Mac user.

Ever since I bought the HyperX Qudcast S, I have never looked back. Although I have used dozens of great USB microphones over the years for multiple purposes, I always come back to the QuadCast S for all my needs. Whether I’m recording my audio for the ComoHow Show, recording some stuff on my acoustic guitar, or just making sure all my colleagues can hear me on video calls, I need a microphone that can work in almost any situation, and it does! The best part, the HyperX QuadCast S is just $112 on Amazon for Prime Day.

The best USB microphone for podcasting you can buy on Prime Day

A big reason the mic works so well in so many different situations is the different polar patterns you can record with QuadCast S. Simply by turning a **** on the back of the mic; You can switch between cardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional, and stereo polar patterns, making it easy to adjust to your recording needs. I had some friends over to record a little demo using some of the different modes and was pleasantly surprised with the performance of the QuadCast S. Even in omnidirectional mode, which is notorious for picking up excessive background noise, voices come through loud and clear. when he sat in the middle of my group of friends.

The mute button on top of the microphone is also a nice feature. It’s easy to turn on and off, and while I was worried the touch sensor wouldn’t always work when I first bought it, it’s been perfect for me for the last year or so. Additionally, when the microphone is muted, the RGB lighting turns off, giving an easily recognizable visual cue to know when the microphone is on or off.

The only downside to the QuadCast S is that HyperX’s software for controlling the microphone, called Ngenuity, isn’t available on the Mac. This doesn’t affect performance in any way, but it does mean you can’t customize RGB lighting when using QuadCast S with your Mac, so you’re stuck with the rotating rainbow pattern.
