Windows 10 Sun Valley: Microsoft evaluates a new Start menu

According to Microsoft, the Sun Valley project will mark a new beginning for Windows 10 on PC. And what’s better than changing the Start menu?

The company has always dared but it has not always gone well. How can we forget the much-critical Windows 8 start screen for full-screen touch screens …

With Windows 10, however, Microsoft had chosen to retrace its steps and offer a hybrid menu between the old Start menu and the screen with touch boxes.

A new menu inspired by Windows 10X

With Sun Valley, the Redmond home could completely overhaul the Start menu to offer a new experience inspired by the (never materialized) Windows 10X project. A mix between what Windows 10X wanted to offer and the already existing Start menu on Windows 10.

A Start menu starting at the bottom left that would only require part of the screen with no boxes but with dynamic content such as news, latest documents or even the weather. On the left side of the menu, the list of applications but completely simplified and without the folders inherited from previous versions of Windows.

The basic work on Sun Valley continues unabated in Microsoft’s offices, it remains to be seen whether we will see the first fruits during the conference scheduled for the end of May or it will take more time.
