Today, the NPD released its US video game sales statistics for the month of June 2022.

We learned from video game industry CEO and advisor Mat Piscatella that the PS5 led in dollar sales for the month, while the Nintendo Switch outperformed unit sales.

The same breakdown applies to the first half of the 2022 calendar, with PS5 making more money and Switch selling more units.

PS5 dollar sales have increased by a double-digit percentage year over year.

Elden Ring remains the best-selling game by dollar sales for the fourth month in a row after debuting at the top in February.

It remains the best-selling game of 2022 and the last 12 months and ranks in the top ten best-selling premium games of all time in the US market.

In terms of specific platforms, Mario Strikers: Battle League was the best-selling game for the Nintendo Switch, while Elden Ring unsurprisingly outsold the PlayStation and Xbox.

As for accessories, the PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller in Midnight Black was the best-selling accessory for June. On the other hand, the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller remains the best-selling accessory for the first half of the 2022 calendar year.

Looking at the market as a whole, June consumer spending on hardware, games and accessories fell 11% year over year.
