PlayStation 5 may not exist, Sony’s next console could be a “new concept”

We are so used to thinking about consoles in the usual way that we take for granted that After a Playstation 4 there will come a Playstation 5 and so on. It seems these things could change in the future with a new concept of video game console, something that Nintendo is already doing with its NX.

In the last two weeks the rumors about the development of PlayStation 4.5, a new improved Xbox One and the confirmed launch of the new Nintendo console have made us all reflect.

The concept of consoles as we all know it could change soon and that is because Lorne Lanningone of the creators of OddworldHe said he said a few days ago that Sony may not be considering the development of PlayStation 5. This statement arose from a private conversation between Lanning and the president of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida. When asked about what the PlayStation 5 would look like, the businessman simply responded with a “you mean, if there is”

They are so sure of this situation that Shuhei Yoshida said he was willing to declare it publicly, but so far he has not done so.

Having an improved version of the PlayStation 4 could be due to the need to adapt to a new “environment.” The fact that there is no PlayStation 5 does not necessarily mean that new Sony consoles will no longer be released. Maybe they are betting on other types of devices or a name change… what is clear is that perhaps in the medium term the concept that we all understand by “video game console” will change.
