Capcom digital event: all the news on the upcoming Monster Hunter, Rise and Stories 2: Wings of Ruin games

During today’s Monster Hunter digital event, members of the Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin shared new information, trailers and gameplay looks for these upcoming Nintendo Switch titles.

Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Monster Hunter Rise director Yasunori Ichinose provided an in-depth look at the game’s new Rampage mission type, game feature details, and confirmation of a second demo due out March 12 ( CET). Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has anticipated the cooperative multiplayer missions coming to the game, revealed the contents of the deluxe edition and the pre-order bonus, and confirmed the release date of July 9, 2021. It will be available in physical and digital versions on Nintendo Switch and digital only on Steam.

Players have received a detailed look at the new Fury mission type in Monster Hunter Rise. Hunters must work with the citizens of Kamura Village to prepare their defensive installations and protect the Stronghold’s barricades from waves of invading monsters, including any Apex monsters that might arrive during the siege.

Today, several new details on the gameplay features for Monster Hunter Rise have been revealed. In addition to the initial “Silkbind Attacks” available for all 14 weapon types, hunters will unlock new “switching skills” for each weapon as they progress through the game. By trading these new abilities with existing Silkbind or regular attacks, players can create all new combos and strategies that match their preferred play style. Monster Hunter Rise will also include dynamic difficulty scaling for multiplayer, which automatically adjusts when new players enter and exit a hunt. The new “Hunter Connect” feature will allow players to create tags with their own goals and style of play, search for other players with the same tags, or invite friends to any tag they’ve joined. After completing a multiplayer mission, players will also be able to appreciate the other hunters in their party and increase the likelihood of finding each other in matchmaking. Finally, players can capture their heroic achievements and the vibrant beauty of Monster Hunter Rise with the camera function.

The digital event also revealed a new trailer that summarizes the many new monsters and environments coming to Monster Hunter Rise, featuring fan-favorite monsters Zinogre and Nargacuga. Eagle-eyed hunters may also glimpse a new threat looming over Kamura, along with the mischievous Elder Dragon Chameleos, who will be one of multiple monsters arriving with post-launch updates following the game’s release later this month.

In addition to confirming the release date, a new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin set the stage for the epic journey with Razewing Rathalos, announced the return of Felyne Navirou’s self-proclaimed hero, and anticipated co-op multiplayer missions. More information on the story and multiplayer content will be revealed at a later time.

Following the trailer, Ryozo revealed the content contained in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Deluxe Edition, pre-order bonuses, three amiibo figures released alongside the game, and save data link reward for Monster Hunter Rise players. The deluxe edition will include Razewing layered armor sets and a Nergigante-inspired hairstyle for players, the Kuan Coat outfit for your Wyvernian companion Ena, two new outfits for Navirou, and two sets of stickers depicting the various companions that the players will meet during their journey.
