The market research company Ipsos recently conducted an interesting study for GamesIndustry.biz that has left serious doubts about the general interest of gamers in virtual reality and their respective platforms such as gaming on consoles and PC.
PlayStation VR, the device recently confirmed for October which will work to bring VR to PS4 alongside the PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controllers, appears to have been the most popular VR platform in the survey. Apparently, 63% of players of consoles (at least those who were surveyed) are interested in Virtual Reality, while only 51% of PC players showed interest in this technology.
In fact, when specifically inquired about whether PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players would be closer to buying a virtual reality device as soon as it becomes available, surveys revealed 72% interest.
In total, they were asked about 8,317 players across all platforms, which revealed that only 49% are interested in Virtual Reality. GamesIndustry.biz adds that those who took part in the survey were asked to completely ignore the issue of pricing, suggesting that they are not interested on PlayStation 4 for being the cheapest and that regardless of its accessibility in the market, a little more than half of the players are simply not interested in virtual reality.
