Evolution Studios members will enter Codemasters

It’s nice to start the week with good news, and what we bring you now couldn’t be better. After the closure of Evolution Studiosthe Sony studio responsible for WRC, Motorstorm or DriveClub, we have learned that the entire team will relocate to Codemastersanother expert in this motor genre.

The former head of Evolution, Mick Hocking, will join Codemasters as vice president and will be in charge of forming this new team within a leading company in the development of car video games. known for sagas such as GRID, DiRT or the official Formula 1 games.

The CEO of Codemasters, Frank Sagnier, expressed his satisfaction with the signing and believes that the addition of Evolution “will increase the scale of the business and strengthen leadership among career developers.” For his part, Mr. Hocking is “delighted to join Codemasters at a time of growth for the company.”

We have shared a passion for racing, a desire to innovate, to create the best speed games and the largest racing community on the market.

Contrary to what was believed, Sony has not wanted to rely on the experience of the former Evolution members for the driving genre, leaving all the weight on Polyphony and its Gran Turismo. When signing with Codemasters Evolution’s talent will no longer be exclusive to Sony consoles, and it remains to be seen if they are commissioned with a new franchise or serve as support for upcoming projects.

Codemasters’ latest work, DiRT Rally, is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. If you are interested in the history of Evolution Studios You can access our article from here.
