Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic test – Those who hid, those who didn’t, I’m coming!

In recent years, the old women’s summer has been lasting longer and longer, which means that the period of dislike comes later, when not only the armchair hussars, but also those who love the outdoors don’t like to venture outside. In such cases, a good pastime that engages the person comes in handy, and this can be a game, say of the hidden object variety, to appeal to those who do not necessarily belong to the hardcore gamer category. Last year we also tested Hidden Through Time: Definite Edition, i.e. the console version, during the autumn season, now let’s take a look at the sequel!

Of course, the first part is actually older than this (from 2020), it took three years to make a sequel, which, unsurprisingly, is very similar to its predecessor. This time there are also four settings (tales of 1001 nights, magical eighties, Greek mythology and medieval with dragons), and within them 8 levels each (including the bonus levels). It is not difficult to calculate that the number of tracks has increased (32 instead of 26), but at the same time they have become more complex and beautiful. Well, it’s a big change that they don’t arrive linearly one after the other, but we can choose which one to start the row with.

But the main point is not even that, but that there are novelties in gameplay. Each level has two versions (rainy/sunny or winter/summer), between which we have to switch, because the objects, persons or living beings we are looking for can be found either on one or the other (very rarely both). In addition to this, there is also something extra, as there is a hidden object for each setting, which can be a dotted egg, a marble pot, or a harpoon – but these are somewhere on every level.

This time we can also edit our own level, which of course will not be exciting for everyone, but those fanatics who start creating unique levels can share the finished work, thus increasing the game’s content offer (there are many imaginative pieces with which I had at least as much fun, as with those in the campaign).

Actually, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic does not bring any big surprises, those who love to rummage around in almost chaotically dense and full of life spaces will fall for it with great enthusiasm. The terrains are much nicer, but in the same ákombákom style, and there are an incredible number of gags hidden – it’s an experience just to wander around while searching. This time there are also szenya puzzles, but that’s also the peculiarity of the genre. For my part, I was easily lost in it for about 8 hours, just as incredibly addictive as its predecessor. If we get a couple of exciting DLCs, then maybe we’ll drag it out until the third part, and hopefully now we won’t have to wait so long for the sequel.
