Many new screens from Gears of War

Some don’t like games like Quake and Unreal Tournament at all and prefer to have it nice and simple in the open air, a good example is Far Cry. But what is actually challenging about something like that? You fulfill your missions and there is actually little exciting to do. Of course the challenge lies with the player himself, but I never experience it as really fascinating and interesting. Games like Doom III/Quake IV where you have to shoot the strangest mutated creatures while walking with your flashlight appeal to me a lot more. If you don’t like dark atmospheres and would rather find yourself in the normal world with a radiant sun in the sky, then I advise you to stop reading, this is not the game for you. I’m talking about Gears of War here.

Well, when I start comparing Quake IV and Doom III, the tone is immediately set: This is clearly a shooter of the latest generation. Gears of War will be a real game that will hold its own. The first Xbox 360 presentations already showed that this would be one of the better shooters for Microsoft’s console. The mix of adventure, horror and action also provides an extra profound atmosphere. In the game you have control over the 35 year old character ‘Marcus Fenix’. Marcus is a disgraced soldier, he ended up in prison for abandoning his post (he wanted to save his father) at a barricade. However, with his rank lowered, he is forced back into action. He is ordered to take command of a Delta company. There he encounters a new friend named Dominic and 2 other discarded recruits. Together with them he will have to face many great monsters who would like to take a bite out of your warm meat. Obviously you do not agree with these malicious intentions and you will have to resist with numerous weapons. It becomes an unwanted struggle for life and death in which fame has an anti-hero effect.

Today numerous new screens (10) from Gears of War have been released, one of which you can view below. All screens can be found in the gallery from Evilgamerz.
