Today, third-party developers announced the development of a new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator and the release of another.

Just Flight has revealed that they are working on another Piper after their popular PA-28 series. It’s the PA-38 Tomahawk.

The developers have done extensive research on a real-world specimen, G-BNKH, based at Goodwood Airfield with SportAir.

It will feature a native model and 4096 x 4096 PBR materials. Below you can read a detailed rundown of what to expect and enjoy several screenshots.

Model

• Accurately modeled PA-38 Tomahawk, built using real aircraft blueprints and full photographs of the actual aircraft
• Lots of animations, including passenger doors, cabin window, sun visors, and engine exhaust.
• Ground equipment including chocks, tie downs and push tow bar
• 4096 × 4096 textures are used to produce the highest texture clarity possible
• PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials with real-time environment reflections for exceptional quality and realism
• Detailed normal mapping for precision down to aircraft surfaces
• Ground Services Assistance (Marshal and Fuel Truck)
• Full support for MSFS visual icing effects

Cabin

• A true 3D virtual cockpit down to the precisely modeled seat belts and bolt heads – every instrument is fully built in 3D with fluid animations.
• Cockpit textures feature weathering based on reference photos taken on the actual aircraft to produce an authentic environment.
• Dimmable instrument lighting
• EFB tablet to control various aircraft options and check aircraft and flight information:
  • Aircraft status “Cold & Dark”, “Ready for Take-off” and “Ready for Start”
  • Persistent aircraft states, allowing you to always return to your cockpit in the same state you last left it
  • Automatic fuel tank changeover for use on those long haul cross country flights
  • GPS unit selection – GNS 430/GNS 530 and GTN 650/750 (requires free PMS-50 GTN 750 software or paid TDS GTNXi software)
  • Aircraft failures (foul plugs, vapor lock, oil usage, and battery failure)
  • Flight computer with useful information such as fuel consumption, resistance, speed and wind speed/direction
• Fully functional and complete IFR compliant avionics fit-out including:

  • GTX 328 Transponder
  • Support free software PMS-50 GTN 750 and paid software TDS GTNXi

Our Tomahawk has a native MSFS (Wwise) audio package that takes full advantage of the new features. Every little detail has been faithfully recreated based on high-fidelity recordings of an actual PA-38.

Big Radials released their Grumman JRF-6 Goose, which was teased for a while.

It is available on the developer store for around $26. This is what you can expect (sic).
