The new Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 smartphone processor promises more performance with less energy consumption. In numbers: With a performance increase of 60 percent, the component should require 40 percent less energy.
The built-in Adreno 225 graphics processor brings a performance increase of around 50 percent compared to the previous version. The S4 also supports the new Windows 8 Direct-X version. The new Snapdragon S4 can be eagerly awaited – and in addition to increased performance and savings in power consumption, it offers other advantages. It is the first processor with an integrated LTE module. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is a new mobile communications standard, which is also known as 4G (4th Generation). LTE is the successor to UMTS and can achieve significantly higher download rates at 100 megabits per second.
Qualcomm is taking a step into the future, because LTE will soon become the standard anyway and will be installed as an additional module in high-tech devices in the foreseeable future.
