OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood

Roll 7 once again bets on its independent Skate proposal with OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood. Nothing went wrong with the first installment, with this one they have tried to improve the first game in every way and establish themselves as the creators of one of the best independent sagas of recent years.

The game begins with an eye-catching look, as it is evident that there is a graphical change that suits it wonderfully, with a more colorful and colorful aesthetic, omitting the pixelation, but without losing any of the hallmarks already marked by the first one, maintaining the 2D side scroll with an original visual style.

Do you remember Toni Hawk’s? Well, all those sensations from the falcon game have been transferred perfectly to this 2D platform. Because OlliOlli is still a game of jumping and avoiding the fall that will lead us to a resounding failure that will force us to return to the beginning of the phase.

This second installment is still quite continuoussomething that is not bad at all, but introduces succulents news. Just as a few years ago, in the first Play Station, the second and third installments of Tony Hawk’s were made, the manuals and reverts are included again, two movements that revolutionized the gameplay of the Neversoft saga and that Here they put things back in their place, yes, in their own way, making the game of Roll 7 a very difficult and demanding experience, but at the same time direct, fun and satisfying.

As I have already said, OlliOlli 2 is very demanding, yes, but at the same time it is quite accessible. Achieving this balance is not easy and here it is something that is present at all times. We have at our disposal an extensive list of tricks to perform that includes everything seen in the previous installment, with additions that increase the variety to push the precision of our fingers to the limit. Doing them all is not an easy task and they will test our ability to control our console.

As for game modes, we find, first of all, a history mode in which we will have to unlock 25 levels full of nods to Hollywood movies, each one with a series of 5 objectives to overcome. To open new phases, it is enough to reach the end of each one, although the fun of this way lies precisely in fulfilling the objectives that the game proposes to us.

We also have the skate parka training mode where we will learn the basic movements that will help us become the kings of the grind, and the enclavesshort levels to overcome in a single combo, and whose score will be the sum of all of them, which will force us to always be aware of scratching a few extra points to position ourselves at the top of the ranking.

Finally I will talk about daily grind, where the “chicha” of the game is located. As in the first part, each day we will have a chance to overcome one of the enclaves (chosen by the game itself at random). We will have the possibility of practicing infinite times until we make the decision to score in the ranking in a single game.

The game includes online world rankings for all modes. There is a multiplayer mode that is not yet available and will arrive very soon in the form of a free update.

At the moment the game is available on PS4 and PS Vita, and, although visually they are exactly the same, I recommend playing it on the laptop since it is a game that lends itself to it and gives the feeling that it has been designed to be played on it. However, the game looks just as good on the desktop, and thanks to cross-buy and cross-save we can move from one platform to another to continue our game calmly.

OlliOlli was already an excellent game, and this second part surpasses it in every aspect. It is noticeable that at Roll7 they have had more resources to carry out this installment full of new ideas that make OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood a more addictive, more fun and more challenging experience. Recommended for all those who want to have in their hands a very arcade, very direct bet that, although it does not think twice when it comes to making us scream in frustration, will always keep the doors open to one more game, keeping us hours improving our skills. tricks to reach the top of the world rankings.
