Rampage RM-TWS02G Tron T17 Bluetooth Gaming Earphone test

Although at first I was very skeptical of wireless earphones and almost convulsively stuck to the wired versions that have been proven for years, I increasingly felt the pressure that it was slowly time to move with the times and renew a model that no longer has to suffer for minutes with the cable tangled . Of course not, just as I was sorting through the possible options, I received an opportunity from Rampage to test their RM-TWS02G Tron T17 earphones, which they claim are specially designed for gamers.

In terms of its specifications, the earphone met expectations: an elegant device with Bluetooth 5.2 compatibility, a built-in microphone for calls, and a square charging case compatible with a USB Type-C cable. The range is a very impressive 10 meters, the earbuds themselves have a capacity of 33 mAh, which is roughly enough for 4 hours of uninterrupted operation, while the case stores 220 mAh and can theoretically store the two little things in standby mode for up to 200 hours.

The beginning of the testing was not too smooth. The first thing that immediately stood out was the fairly clear fragility of the case’s opening “wings” – although I obviously didn’t try this in person, but I would bet that a major fall or impact at a bad angle, or perhaps a sufficiently sudden and clumsy one, would be enough opening so that at least one of the wings detaches. The only problem with this is that, if I understood the case correctly, charging only takes place when both wings are closed on the ears. The other was the slightly excessively thick end of the earphone. During my career, unfortunately, I have come across worse models – the factory earcups of one of my first MP4 players had such an unfortunate design that they regularly damaged the inside of my ears – and the Tron T17 is fortunately far from them, although it could have been slightly more comfortable and slimmer in design. The negative impressions were topped off by the sound, which I have also experienced worse, however, the bass is quite weak and the noise filtering also leaves something to be desired – on a train, in a large crowd, all background noise passed through.

However, in other respects, I was particularly satisfied with the Tron T17t, as it exceeded the promises regarding operating time and range listed in the specifications almost without exception. Its range is so good that if I left the phone in the innermost room of our sublet, I could even listen to music or make calls on the speakerphone. Instead of a 4-hour operating time, it consumes roughly 15%-20% of charge per hour, so it can last up to 6, and the case, in standby mode, if I didn’t use the earbuds for hours every day, lasted for two weeks without putting them on the charger.

Thus, although the initial impressions were not particularly positive, and there are clearly areas where the Rampage Tron T17 could improve with minimal investment, overall I consider it to be a great entry-level earphone, which competes quite well in terms of price and performance with the more well-known ones at home with brands like JBL and Xiaomi.
