This is ‘Arcade Land’, the first video game adapted for children with cerebral palsy

It is a pride to write a news story in which a Spanish development team creates an exclusive PlayStation 4 game of this nature. Arcade Land It is being co-produced by SCE and is a game that will be divided into six minigames that will reinterpret the classic arcade games of a lifetime through no more and no less than a hundred levels.

Regardless of its quality (which it has), it should be noted that the game has been designed so that the player can control his avatar through movements thanks to the PS Camera as well as the Dualshock 4. The best thing about the game is that it is designed so that children with cerebral palsy can enjoy it just like any player. The price of the game will be €9.99.

As Ignacio García, Technical Director of the Monte del Pilar Neurological Therapy Center and supervisor of the game mechanics of Arcade Land, children who suffer from this type of motor limitations use very repetitive postures that lead to deformities, muscle shortening or chronic pain. The idea is that with these fun mini-games, they start using large muscle groups to increase the range of motion they are able to perform.

The idea for the project was born from Helping, a social marketing agency led by Juan José González López-Huerta, a professional with extensive experience in the world of video games. Helping was awarded in 2015 by the Obra Social La Caixa Foundation within the field of insertion of people with disabilities with a sum of €25,000 that has been allocated to the development of Arcade Land.
