Current iPad Deals

Do you absolutely need an iPad now? There are some great deals out there, here are a few!

When will we see Prime Day iPad deals?

Amazon has yet to announce an official date for Prime Day 2022, and we likely won’t know exactly when until a few weeks before the event. It usually sits comfortably in mid-July on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the exception of last year when the date was pushed back to mid-June due to pandemic-related stockout fears.

With inventory levels appearing to have leveled off in the new year, Amazon will likely bring it back to its traditional monthly slot.

Will I need an Amazon Prime account for Prime Day deals?

In a word, yes. Long story short, you’ll need an Amazon Prime account to get the best Prime Day deals, but you can find great deals that Amazon has made available to customers who don’t pay monthly for the privilege. Double check on a product page, and if it doesn’t say anything about Prime Day, you’ll be able to take advantage of the discount without needing an Amazon Prime account. Pay attention elsewhere too: Often many other retailers try to beat Amazon with equally good deals.

In some cases, these deals may actually be better: Pay close attention to the likes of Walmart and take aim at who in previous years has beat Amazon’s already pretty stellar deals. Of course, we will also bring you highlights from other stores.

There’s always Amazon’s 30-day Prime trial which, if you haven’t had one before, is definitely worth checking out, especially around Prime Day. Not only will you get access to Prime Day deals, but you’ll also have the opportunity to try free next-day delivery and other benefits exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers.

What iPad Deals Can I Expect?

Good. Prime Day has always delivered impressive savings on iPads, and this year will likely be no different. These are our predictions for the different models, taking into account the Prime Days of previous years.

iPadPro

Last year’s newest model, the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, got modest discounts of around $50. Given the age of the models, no one expected better, and the discount turned out to be the best yet: most retailers had been reluctant to drop prices on the item of the day. Since then, though, there have been bigger discounts of up to $100, and we’re expecting around that number for Prime Day this year.

iPad 10.2

Apple’s most affordable iPad often sees little to no discount. Last year, it only saw a small discount of $299, which is also the lowest price they’ve ever seen. Any discount would make this already tempting device worthwhile, especially around $50.

ipad air

Last year’s deals were for the previous fourth-generation iPad Air, so the fact that it was a dying model may explain why the savings were so good. We saw the price drop to $539, a record at the time. Unfortunately, it was only in a few colors so you didn’t have a choice of vintage. With the new M1 models, we’re already seeing discounts of around $30 on a fairly consistent basis, so we can expect savings of around $50 or more during the Prime Day 2022 rush.

Past Prime Day iPad deals

We’ve rounded up and curated the best iPad deals of the past year, and put them here for your safekeeping. While they may not reflect the Prime Day 2022 iPad deals, they will give us an idea of what you can expect on the big day this year. It’s worth keeping in mind that these deals came around the same time as the stockouts, so retailers are more likely to offer healthier discounts on some of these older models.
