Sony has announced that it intends strengthen security of PlayStation Network accounts, its networking system aimed at connecting all players with each other and between the different services of its products, thanks to the inclusion of a two step authentication.

Information at first it was leaked via Twitter, when a user discovered that the latest PlayStation 3 firmware update mentioned that the platform would begin using two-step verification, something Sony never did has spoken openly until now; Just as an additional piece of information, this system has been on Xbox platforms for about 3 years.

Although we still do not have information on when authentication will arrive from two steps to PSN, we know we will have more details “very soon.” Speaking to news outlet GameSpot, a Sony representative had this to say:

In order to increase the protection of our users and their accounts, we are preparing to offer a two-step verification feature.
