Ghost Recon Future Soldier review

The “ghosts” are back, deadlier than ever.

These, briefly, are the facts that will lead the main plot of the game: Nicaragua, during an expedition the Ghost Predator team falls victim to the explosion of a bomb which is presumed to be composed of a mix of conventional explosives and radioactive material.
Following the disappearance of the “old ghosts”, a new team is set up to track down a Bolivian trafficker believed to be responsible for the presence of the bomb, but this will only be the first step in an adventure that will take them around the planet, from Norway to Pakistan to Russia just to name a few, in order to avoid, as in the most classic of Tom Clancy’s novels, a very serious threat to world peace and security.

GAMEPLAY:

Let’s start by setting the record straight: if you’re tired of the frenetic action of other FPSs, this game could really have what it takes to make you fall in love (despite not being an FPS in the purest sense of the term itself).
The campaign mode of GRFS, playable in single player or even in cooperative with a team made up entirely of “humans”, will take you through twelve missions for a total of around 12 hours of gameplay, putting you in the shoes of Kozak, a member of the Ghost team and leading you in the most disparate situations around the world.
The missions will basically be divided into two phases, reconnaissance/stealth phase and firefights.
Very often in the stealth phases you will have the opportunity to coordinate the actions of your team by means of a drone which, flying in the sky above your head, will indicate the enemy position to your companions, marking it and allowing you to eliminate the enemies in a coordinated manner; you can do the same by marking the enemies even without a drone and eliminating them all while also participating in the first person with a score sequence, you mark the enemies, you shoot at your marked one and the others do the same on the other marked ones, all in a perfectly simultaneous and slowed down to make the action a little spectacular.
In the adventure race you will have great support from technological tools, from weapons to drones, but above all from your beloved optical camouflage which, once you are kneeling or lying on the ground, will automatically activate making you practically invisible (… ghost…).

There will be many weapons at your disposal during the main campaign, with many others unlockable by overcoming some game phases or some challenges proposed by the game itself. Obviously, you will also be able to unlock equipment as well as unlock components for customizing weapons thanks to the new “Gunsmith” feature.
Gunsmith is the new and incredible service created by Ubisoft that will support you in your gaming experience. This service will literally allow you to disassemble your weapon and compose it as you like, modifying all the pieces, from the trigger to the optics, from the barrel to the stock, from the underbarrel to the livery; thus guaranteeing you the possibility of creating a multitude of different and absolutely personalized weapons, which can best be used depending on the situation, powerful long-range and very precise sniper rifles or small machine guns with high maneuverability, heavy-firing machine guns to offer support to your team or assault rifle technicians to throw you into the fray… with gunsmith you can truly create an infinite variety of weapons and also compare your creations with those created by the GRFS community.
As regards the various game modes, from the title menu we will have access to campaign, guerrilla and multiplayer.

The campaign mode, as well as the main mode of the game, is developed around a well-articulated plot with thriller outlines and has the nice advantage of being able to be played with other human and non-PC players controlled by the CPU and this, having chosen suitable team mates, it could prove to be an interesting move and above all a way of making the gaming experience of the main mode more varied and fun than it is already played in “solo”.
The guerrilla mode is nothing other than the wave game mode, or survival, you name it.
Your task will be to protect the HQ with your ghost, fending off waves of enemies and having access to bonuses and new weapons from wave to wave… a challenge that will prove sufficiently challenging and fun… Will you be able to reach 50 waves?

As regards the difficulty levels, it can be said that they are quite assorted as regards the “classic” difficulties, a separate discussion can instead be made for the “elite” difficulty which may at first glance appear tedious and unplayable. This is because the transition from the veteran difficulty to the elite difficulty is strongly marked by the fact that you cannot be healed by your teammates, whether they are human PCs or CPUs, and that a machine gun attack will also be enough to send you to the other world.
The very high difficulty found at the elite level could lead to 2 classic consequences: it will lead the average level player to be satisfied with having finished the game at veteran level and therefore dedicate himself to other game modes, such as the very fun and infinite multiplayer; on the other hand it will induce the hardcore player to accept a complex challenge and will really lead him to plan every single move and study every single detail of the map as best as possible to be able to complete all the missions of the game and therefore finish the story of Ghost Recon Future Soldier also on elite difficulty level.

GRAPHICS AND SOUND:

The audio sector is very well done, the music is very beautiful and gives the game the right atmosphere; the dubbing given to us by Ubisoft is of an excellent level, spoken entirely in Italian and done really well, very well-matched voices between the characters and clear and easy to understand conversations.
Just one note can be made regarding the audio of this title, in relation to the sound of the shots of the different weapons that we will have at our disposal during the main adventure and the multiplayer; perhaps the developers could have done something more to create more realistic and differentiated shots based on the weapon we use, given that the sound of the shot often appears similar from one weapon to another of the same category
On a graphic level it must be said that this new Ghost Recon is splendidly created, splendid graphics from all points of view.

From the characters to the settings, through the splendid creation of the weapons and the care taken in the creation of the optical camouflage system (which is very MGS… and which will often allow you to avoid a heavy firefight by transforming it into a simple succession of rapid executions from strongly stealth character), it is really difficult to complain about the graphic effort produced by the guys at Ubisoft.
The gaming experience, already splendid in itself, is enriched by a splendid characterization of the characters and a very recognizable attention paid to the creation of game environments and scenarios; probably on a graphic level this new title in the Tom Clancy saga can be defined as among the best on the market to date.

MULTIPLAYER:

Another very important arrow available to the bow of this excellent title is the online multiplayer mode which unfolds in different types of games.
Forget about DM or DMS right away, you won’t find anything similar here.
There are 4 game modes, each of which has objectives to complete to guarantee points for your team and therefore win the match.
Conflict Mode involves a succession of random objectives on the map (get supplies, destroy EMP, etc.) and achieving them can often bring not only points to you, but also real bonuses and advantages for your team.

Decoy Mode puts the attackers in a position to sabotage three enemy objectives that the defenders will have to protect, however two of the same objectives will, in fact, only be decoys in games that last 15 minutes and therefore already from the duration they can easily give you a real idea of how the online game in this title develops in a diametrically opposite way compared to what happens in competing shooters.
Sabotage mode foresees the presence of a bomb on the map, a bomb that each team tries to make its own and place inside the enemy base, here the matches can last a long time, but also just a few minutes in the event that one of the two teams were to be made up of incapable people (and it will happen, alas it will happen).
Siege mode does not include respawns, one team attacks and the other defends objectives; The winner is whoever conquers the objective, whoever defends it, or simply whoever stays alive. This mode is very close to the pure team game concept that is GRFS.

The game maps are all excellently crafted and very vast, the online game is made enjoyable by an excellently crafted code which however could sporadically lead to really annoying signal delays. We strongly recommend exiting the match immediately in these cases, otherwise you are in for a risk of ulcer).
Only practice will make you perfect, the first few games could be marked by a series of annoying deaths simply because either you don’t know the map or you don’t have the right equipment to adequately face the clashes… don’t lose heart and the satisfactions will come soon!
CONCLUSIONS:
Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a fantastic title, but if on the one hand it can be a pleasure to play in single player for all FPS fans, on the other in multiplayer it could leave disappointed those who prefer pure action to tactics, coordination and work team skills that will often be required during multiplayer games to bring home the victory.

The game itself is fantastic, earning recognition as one of the best titles on the market and probably one of the best 3 released in recent months.
An excellent audio section and splendid graphics make the game, already embellished with an excellent plot in Tom Clancy style, even better. The longevity of the title is guaranteed not only by the 12 hours of play necessary to complete the game, but also by the elite difficulty, the guerrilla mode and also and above all by the multiplayer which, associated with Gunsmith, will never stop giving you satisfaction and gaming experiences different by virtue of the most dangerous and lethal weapons that you will be able to create and bring onto the battlefield to celebrate your unfortunate enemies.

If you’re tired of campers and baby soldiers who swear easily, take a tour online with ghosts… if you really want to hurt yourself, you can easily go back to poisoning your blood on other FPS as you’ve done up to now 😉
