Sony admits that Uncharted and The Last of Us movies are on hold

They do not always reach the quality of the video game they represent – rather they tend to fall far below, with some exceptions – but it seems that Many large studios want to join the trend of bringing their great IPs to the big screen, starting with Ubisoft and its Assassin’s Creeda film that will be released at the end of 2016.

Sony also wants some of its franchises to be released in theaters and that is why it started working on adapt two cult works from Naughty Dog: The Last of Us and Uncharted. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to bring producers and scriptwriters from both worlds together, in addition to the fact that the guys at Naughty Dog are now somewhat busy with the launch of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

It seems that for Uncharted the guys at Naughty Dog would look for the core of the plot to be the relationships between Elena, Nathan Drake and their friend Sully. For The Last of Us, several names came out to represent Ellie: Maisie Williams and Ellen Page.

According to statements to IGN of Neil Druckmann, game director, The two projects have been in a kind of limbo for more than a year and a half, deciding which script they think would work best and which wouldn’t. Long time the scriptwriter changed and since then they have not received new material, so it is possible that the production company has kept the project in a drawer until the time comes to dust it off and give it the final push.

Will we have an Uncharted or The Last of Us movie? It’s difficult to know, we just hope that they succeed only if the quality is adequate, such great franchises deserve nothing less.

‘The Last of Us 2’ will continue its development after the ‘Uncharted 4’ DLC
