‘Battalion 1944’ wants to compete with ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Battlefield’

This week the campaign ended. new indie shooter in first person based on the second world war, Battalion 1944, raising £317,218 (approximately €/$450.00) Thanks to the aid from over 10,000 enthusiastic donors on Kickstarter.

Thanks to this amount reached, developers trust in that they can create a game that “challenges the biggest AAA shooters in the industry”, of course referring to games like the annual Call of Duty close combat series, or Electronic Arts’ pitched war franchise, Battlefield. The developers claim that they want “capture the main of classic multiplayer shooters.

These were some of the words from executive producer Joe Brammer about the high price of some of the goals:

The reason why the goals were set at such high prices is that the characters cost a lot of money. If we want to reach the same range as Activision and DICE we need to put in as much quality as they do, and that costs money. It costs us a lot of money to design the complete set of characters, all the customization options that come with that, the custom faces, the weapons, the voices, implement them within the game, the maps, environments and game modes in some cases. .
