Moving your photos, contacts, calendars, and accounts from your old Android phone or tablet to your new iPhone or iPad is easier than ever with Apple’s Move to iOS app. Apple’s first Android app connects your old Android device and your new Apple device via a direct Wi-Fi connection and transfers all your data. But keep in mind that you can only transfer data from an Android phone or tablet to an iPhone or iPad running iOS 9 or later. If you have the new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, or iPhone 13 Pro Max, you’ll be fine.

NOTE: Although the Move to iOS app transfers much of your data, it does not transfer your apps (because they are not supported), your music, or any of your passwords.

  • Follow the prompts to set up your iPhone or iPad until you get to the screen labeled “Apps & Data.”
  • Tap on the “Move Android Data” option.
  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store and search for Move to iOS.
  • Open the list of apps Migrate to iOS.
  • Tap Install.
  • Choose Open after installing it.
  • Tap Continue on both devices.
  • On your Android device, enter the six-digit code displayed on the iPhone or iPad.
  • After you enter the code, the Android device will connect to your iPhone or iPad over a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection and determine what data to transfer. Tap Continue on the Android device to continue.
  • Hold the phones side by side, then select Connect.
  • It will ask you what data you want to transfer so you can quickly sign in to your new Apple device. This includes things like Contacts, Calendar, Google Account, Camera Roll, etc. Select everything you want to move, then tap Continue.
  • It will take time for the information to transfer to your data, so keep the phones close to each other. The more data you have to transfer, the longer it will take. Tap Done when the transfer is complete.
  • Now switch to iPhone and tap on Continue iPhone Setup.
  • Continue following the iPhone prompts to complete your phone setup.

    • The duration of the transfer process varies depending on the amount of data you transfer, especially if you store a lot of photos and videos. We transferred about 400MB of files and it took about 8 minutes from starting the setup process on the iPhone to entering the account passwords.
