This is the VR experience of ‘Star Wars: Trials of Tatooine’

We had spent days without knowing anything about the virtual reality and today, suddenly, we have two pieces of news, which, although not directly related to the world of video games, will or could end up reaching PlayStation VR.

A few hours ago we told you about a virtual reality experience that Ubisoft is preparing to put us inside the next Assassin’s Creed movie, but also by ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), the company in charge of the special effects of major blockbusters such as Jurassic Park, The Avengers or Harry Potter, is preparing something special for a movie that will sound familiar to his boss, George Lucas: Star Wars.

with the title Star Wars: Trials of Tatooinethe ILMxLab division will launch an interactive experience located between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and with it we will be able Explore the desert planet of Tatooine as Luke SkyWalker’s apprentice armed with a lightsaber. In the presentation video it seems that we will use the control knob adapted to the hand to operate the lightsaber.

For now the demo, which we’ll see if it doesn’t end up becoming a video game, It will be compatible with HTC Vive but ILM would be working on adapting it to other virtual reality platforms, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it came to PlayStation VR. The release date and whether it will accompany HTC in its launch, which will occur on April 5, are unknown.

It seems that cinema and video games will be more united than ever with this technology. We leave you with the presentation video of Trials of Tatooine.
