Whoops, Bethesda has lost its head!

Almost out of nowhere, the news came this afternoon that it was going back nearly four decades Bethesda label head Pete Hines is leaving his post. The veteran specialist first announced this in a statement on his own private X channel. Not long after, the news was confirmed on the publisher’s official channels in a separate announcement.

Pete Hines sat down in the director’s chair of Bethesda in 1999, i.e. 24 years ago, under his leadership the publisher put many classic games on the table: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Rage, Wolfenstein, The Evil Within, Dishonored, Doom and most recently the Starfield. In the future, however, it will be necessary to find the way back to the old successes without him.

The personal statement reveals that Pete Hines is not stepping down from the director’s chair for another company or position, but is retiring. New experiences and excitement await him in the new phase of his life, but he also added that he will continue to grow the camp of Bethesda fans and is looking forward to what the future will bring.

Bethesda’s official statement praised his efforts for the company and thanked him for the past 24 years. It is not yet known who will succeed him in the director’s chair.
