Xiaomi ready to offer Samsung’s new 200 Megapixel sensor

Samsung’s 200 Megapixel Isocell sensors are ready for debut. And if Motorola with the X30 Pro should be the first ever to offer it to the general public, Xiaomi will immediately be queued to bring this sensor to the next Xiaomi 12T.

According to SamMobile, the Chinese manufacturer has chosen the ISOCELL HP3, another 200 Megapixel sensor recently unveiled by Samsungmore compact, but less efficient.

In detail, this solution will offer the same definition, but on smaller pixels. It is a 1 / 1.4 inch sensor for 2.24 µm photosites after pixel binning. This is respectively 20% and 12% less than the Isocell HP1.

It is curious to find that competing manufacturers are claiming technologies developed by Samsung. In fact, according to the rumor, the Korean company is not expected to mobilize its 200 Megapixel sensors before the release of the Galaxy S23 Ultra early next year. In fact, mobile imaging is an important business for Samsung which, according to the latest Strategy Analytics report, accounts for 26% of the market shares dominated by Sony (45%).

Xiaomi, for its part, does not hesitate to obtain supplies from one supplier as from the other. A few days ago, the announcement of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra made us discover the Sony IMX989: its new 1-inch smartphone photo sensor.
