Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 update

It didn’t take Samsung long to bring One UI 5.1.1 to older Galaxy devices. Introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the latest version of One UI is now available for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 series. More devices will receive this update in the coming days, including the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

As of this writing, the One UI 5.1.1 update is available for Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 users in Europe. The new firmware build number for the foldable is F936BXXU4DWH5 (through). The updated build number for Samsung’s 2022 flagship tablets is X706BXXU5BWH6, X806BXXU5BWH6OR X906BXXU5BWH6, depending on the model. The launch will expand to other markets, including the United States, in the coming days.

Since this is a major update, the OTA (over-the-air) download size is huge, weighing in at well over 2.5GB. Of course, there are tons of new features and improvements to show for it. A UI 5.1.1 lets you keep up to four recently used apps on the taskbar for quick access, and preserves an app’s current open state in the Recent Apps menu. It also adds two-handed drag-and-drop support for moving files between two apps.

Additionally, One UI 5.1.1 makes it easier to switch between multi-window and pop-up views and lets you hide apps that open in pop-up windows. There are also new font styles and placement options for the lock screen clock. This update also improves Quick Share, Private Share, Flex Mode and many other existing features on Samsung foldable devices and tablets.

Most of these goodies will be making their way to a bunch of other Galaxy devices soon. Samsung has promised to push One UI 5.1.1 to all of its recent foldable devices and tablets. The list includes Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Tab S7 series, Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, Galaxy Tab A8, Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, Galaxy Tab Active 3 and Galaxy Tab Active 4.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 will also receive the Android 14 update

While One UI 5.1.1 is a major update, Samsung is ready for an even bigger update for Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Tab S8, and others will get One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 later this year. The company is currently testing the beta version of the new One UI version for the Galaxy S23 series. It is expected to kick off stable launch in October. As always, we will keep you updated on all these releases. In the meantime, if you’re using an eligible Galaxy device, look out for the One UI 5.1.1 update in the coming days.
