Sony explains why PlayStation TV production stopped in Japan

We recently informed you about how Sony Computer Entertainment would have stopped production of PlayStation TV in Japan, one of the most dedicated video game territories in the world.

Apparently the problem has not been its sales in Japan, but it is closely related to sales of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. In the company’s words, these two platforms have stood out so well in Japan, PlayStation TV is no longer seen as a utility device; Players can have a PS4, a PS Vita, or both for gaming at home and on the go, which was the main goal of PlayStation TV.

So the company explained it before AV Watch media, stating the following:

The role of PlayStation Vita TV was to allow people to easily enjoy their handheld games on their TVs, and create an opportunity to reconnect with people who have distanced themselves from video games. In the current situation, with the strong sales of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan, it has already fulfilled its role.
