Sony could be working on a more powerful PS4

The popular informative medium Kotaku has stated that Sony Computer Entertainment is working on a new version of the PlayStation 4 that is even more graphically powerful and has the ability to run games at 4K resolution.

Apparently the developers confirmed to Kotaku that this “PlayStation 4.5” (as it is known for now or as it is supposedly known by the developers) will include an updated GPU card that can support high-end 4K definition for gaming, plus processing power that can run games with PlayStation VR support. It would also allow developers to add more effects and graphical twists to their games.

Currently PlayStation 4 supports the 4K resolution for photographs and videos, but with respect to games it is limited to a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

Kotaku adds that the circle of people What they knew about this new version of the console until now was quite small. Kotaku’s Patrick Klepek heard about this from one “reliable source” and then from a second. Two of the other writers were also able to “independently verify its existence”, however it appears that one of the sources told them that this device felt like an experiment and may not even be close to launching this year.
