Report on the status of work on Gothic II: The Story of Khorinis

The Soulfire group, the creators of The Story of Khorinis, a mod for Gothic II, Night of the Raven, eagerly awaited by many players, recently shared a report on the work on their production on YouTube. The entire video is read by the voice of Xardas, Mr. Tomasz Marzecki, who is iconic for Gothic players.

It includes, among other things, a denial of rumors that after the loud split about which we kept you informed at the turn of March and April, this project was being created completely anew. The creators also share with us news straight from the production process, which mainly include:

  • Changes to the 3D world model, working on its consistency, updating building models and improving the overall level design of the island of Vaduz.
  • Development of new animations using a completely new tool, Autodesk MotionBuilder, which was made available to the creators thanks to the team from Flying Wild Hog, authors of, among others, modern Shadow Warriors. These animations seem much smoother and more natural than those from the basic version of the game
  • Completion and correction of the script by professional screenwriters
  • An announcement that we can expect information about publishing plans in March 2019

For more information and in more detail, please watch the material below:

It must be admitted that the project promises to be even more professional than before. It is worth adding here that even foreign developers are joining it. However, in the words of the authors themselves, remember that this is still just a fan modification to an over sixteen-year-old game and hobby that the producers engage in in their free time.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the noble initiative of helping Mr. Krzysztof Zakrzewski, an actor who provided the voice for, among others, Dziejy Khorinis. Mr. Krzysztof is struggling with cancer and funds are currently being collected for his further treatment. More information can be found at this address: click.
